One of the most recognizable names in the industrial computing space is Neousys Technology. Neousys designs and manufactures industrial grade rugged embedded computers and systems with core expertise ranging from embedded computing to data acquisition and processing.

Well That’s Odd: Nuvo Series Explained

Starting with the series, you’ll notice that Neousys skips over even numbers.

That’s not entirely true; there are even-series, but those are much less common and we’ll expand on that in a future article.

Nuvo-1000

  • Introduced in 2010
  • Arrandale Mobile i5/i7 & Celeron P4500
  • Discontinued

Nuvo-3000

  • Introduced in 2013
  • Ivy Bridge Embedded i5/i7 & Celeron 1020E
  • Discontinued

Nuvo-5000

  • Introduced in 2015
  • Skylake Desktop & Mobile i3/i5/i7, Pentium & Celeron
  • Targeted availability to 2025

Hey Nuvo: Can I Get Your Digits?

When you look at the Nuvo-9000 as an example, you’ll see various product numbers associated with it like: Nuvo-9000E, Nuvo-9000LP, Nuvo-9006E, Nuvo-9002-DE, Nuvo-9006PoE, and so on…

So, what does it all mean?
NUVO-9006LP
The first digit is the Nuvo’s Series

NUVO-9006LP
The last digit is its Ethernet Ports

NUVO-9006LP
The lettered suffix is the embedded computer’s Model

Expanding on the Nuvo’s Ethernet Ports

In the last digit of the model number, we can see the number of ethernet ports included on the embedded computer.

You’ll see a 2 for 2 ethernet ports, a 6 for 6 ethernet ports, or you’ll see 6 + PoE for 2x ethernet ports and 4x PoE.
